About the Techniques
Here at Pain Relief - Movement Restored, I want each client to know and understand what it is exactly that I do. Below, I have given a description of each of the services and techniques that I use to relieve tension and chronic pain. These techniques together can release fascia 80% more than massage because they go deeper without using force, but by using a light touch.
Aston-Patterning and Aston Kinetics
A system of therapeutic bodywork that acts to realign the body to the individual clients own posture by manipulating soft tissue and fascia. This therapy includes:
Aston Techniques
Utilizes a light three dimensional touch that goes from surface to bone.
Arthro Kinetics
A technique that releases all joints of the body, including the spine through gentle touch and movement.
Movement Education
Clients are taught how to properly move with the forces of gravity and ground reaction force for ease of fluid motion.
Additionally, clients are taught joint and muscle loosening exercises that they can do on their own to prevent any regression and to speed up their healing process.
Ergonomic Modification
Teaches clients how to modify shoes, furniture, work stations and their environment to enable better movement.
CranioSacral Therapy
A gentle, noninvasive bodywork technique that uses light touch to release tension around the head, spinal column, and sacrum. By easing restrictions in these tissues, practitioners aim to support the central nervous system and promote the body's natural healing processes
How Does It Help?
The craniosacral system is the soft tissues and fluids that protect your brain and spinal cord. As it is directly protecting your central nervous system, this system plays an integral part in maintaining the central nervous system’s functions which have major influence over your health and well-being.
CranioSacral Therapy has the ability to achieve the following results:
Increases volume of cerebrospinal fluid
Protects the brain from inflammatory process, enhances the health of the neuro-skeletal-muscular-vascular system, etc.
Enhances immune and endocrine function
Improves the ratio of bone production to re-absorption, promotes red blood cell health, enhances endocrine function, etc.
Increases fluid flow
Unwinds fascia (connective tissue), increases oxygen intake, improves circulation, strengthens connective tissue fluid flow, indirectly improves the character of the skin by promoting deep neurological relaxation, reduces puffiness, etc.
Assists with neurological balance
Stabilizes sleep patterns, improves balance and vestibular (inner ear) control, helps to release suboccipital muscles at the base of the scull which causes cervicogenic dizziness, addresses deep structures within the Central Nervous System, etc.
Conditions Helped By These Techniques:
Migraines and Headaches, Dizziness, Chronic Neck and Back Pain, Frozen Shoulder, Carpal Tunnel, TMJ, Stress and Tension-Related Disorders, Motor-Coordination Impairments, Post-Concussion Symptoms, Fibromyalgia, Scoliosis, Kyphosis, Lordosis, Central Nervous System Disorders, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Asthma, Eye Motor Problems, POTS, etc.
The Importance of Fascia
I want to also stress the importance of a word that many people have never even heard — fascia — and the important role it takes on in aligning the body.
What is Fascia?
Fascia is a tough yet flexible continuous sheath of connective tissue made from elastin, collagen, and the extracellular matrix. Fascia wraps around and supports your bones, muscles, organs, and nerves. Fascia works to protect, connect, divide, and provide communication between all of the structures in the body.
I know this sounds complex, and that’s because it’s a complex system. It can be easier to visualize your fascia as one continuous web that shapes, cradles, and communicates with everything it touches — which is everything in the body! Now imagine that every single structure, down to the last cell, is held together by this amazing, intelligent tissue.
Physical force trauma, environmental influences, genetic influences, disease, or even emotional trauma can disrupt the balance of that fascia. The resulting distortion in the fascia may change the body’s internal environment, creating symptoms of varying degrees.
Since this fascia is one continuous web-like structure, the fascia that surrounds the structures in your head and neck are directly connected to the fascia in your legs and feet. In other words, pain and discomfort in one area of your body, in many cases, can be due to trauma, straining, or weakness of another area. Unwinding fascia brings the body back to its natural alignment
About Me
As someone who has suffered from a severe head injury that left me 70% bedridden for 6 years, I said enough is enough and began searching for answers myself. I found a technique that gave me the hope I needed for healing. It wasn’t magic, or a quick fix, but little by little I got better.
I have always believed that if God finds you help, you should promise to help others. I decided to seek out and learn those techniques for myself. Since then, my mission has been to pay it forward by relieving others of their pain and help them find their neutral alignment so they can live the life they deserve.
Doctors, family, and friends may all say you should look a certain way, and feel a certain way, or treat your pain a certain way, but they aren’t always right. I believe that your body is unique and your treatment should reflect that.
Healing is not a “one size fits all,” and I will work with you to find your neutral alignment. I want to validate your pain and tell you that there is help and hope. It will take time, but it is possible.
